Before you do anything else take the necessary steps to deal with
any injured parties. Call the appropriate emergency services if required

Note the registration number of the other vehicles involved

Ask for the name and addresses of people involved and any witnesses

Make a sketch plan of the scene of the accident and please try to
take photographs if at all possible

Do not admit responsibility or sign any statement that the accident
was your fault

If the accident resulted in damage to another vehicle, an animal
or other property to comply with the law you must stop, and
-
provide your name, address and registration details of the vehicle
to anybody reasonably requesting the information

If anyone other than yourself is injured you must show your certificate
to the police or to any other person reasonably asking for it.
If you cannot do this at the time of the accident, report the
accident to the police as soon as possible and in any case within
24 hours

If you have caused damage to another vehicle or property you
must show your certificate to any person who reasonably asks for
it

You must report all accidents and losses immediately. If your car
is damaged in any way which is insured under the policy please telephone
the helpline shown in your policy

Delay can involve higher costs which may go against your driving
record. If the delay is extreme, cover may be refused

If your car has been stolen please notify the police as soon as the
loss is discovered

Please send us immediately any letters, summonses, writs or notices
you receive and do not answer them

In all cases please inform us even if you have already contacted
your helpline so that we can make any arrangements necessary to progress
your claim as quickly as possible
